At the Range

At the Range

The NRA Basic Pistol Course is a comprehensive course that teaches the basic skills, knowledge, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. Students learn the NRA rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition knowledge; shooting fundamentals; range rules; two handed and single handed shooting positions; gun cleaning; and pistol selection. This course is composed of both class room instruction and a minimum shooting requirement of fifty rounds at the firing range with an instructor.

Note that you can still attend this class without a FOID card, but you cannot bring a handgun to the class or rent one at the firing range without your FOID. You must also display your FOID card to gain admittance to the gun range unless you are accompanied by a valid FOID card holder.

We encourage you to bring your own firearm however if you do not yet own a firearm, we can provide one for you to use or you may rent one at the range.
